Matt Sterett, Managing Director

Prior to co-founding Valk Capital, Matt was a Principal at Richardson James LLC, an Austin-based investment company, where he sourced and executed private debt and equity investments. At Richardson James, Matt diligenced numerous specialty finance and upstream oil & gas investment opportunities. In addition to this, he set up successful retail businesses in Texas and the Caribbean. Prior to Richardson James, Matt worked at Citigroup Global Markets in the Global Securitized Products Group, where he underwrote in excess of $35bn of investment grade and non-investment grade asset-backed securities new issuances and structured lending facilities.

Matt graduated from Connecticut College, with a BA in Economics, cum laude and has a Master in Energy Management from ESCP Europe.

Reindert-Jan Visser, Non-Executive Director

Reindert-Jan has over 10 years’ of international experience in the energy industry, primarily in upstream oil & gas. He has a diverse background throughout the oil & gas value chain and held positions in field development, project management and commercial management in various countries.

RJ started his career in oil & gas as a Field Engineer with Shell in Aberdeen specialising in implementing brownfield projects in the North Sea. Following on his first experience as an Engineer, RJ worked mostly in commercial positions such as  managing a complex downstream joint venture, leading a crude supply & sales team, and commercial management of upstream development projects. In addition, RJ has set up renewable energy projects in NW Europe.

RJ has an undergraduate degree in Engineering, a Master in Management from ESCP in Paris and an MSc in Finance from TIAS business School in the Netherlands.
